Clinton Flip-Flops On Major Trade Deal

In an interview with PBS’ Newshour today, Hillary Clinton came out against the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). However, Clinton’s current opposition to the 12 country trade deal is a major flip-flop from her previous praise for the TPP as a “gold standard in trade agreements”:

“This TPP sets the gold standard in trade agreements to open free, transparent, fair trade, the kind of environment that has the rule of law and a level playing field. And when negotiated, this agreement will cover 40 percent of the world’s total trade and build in strong protections for workers and the environment.”

In fact, CNN listed the 45 times Clinton pushed the trade deal.

Clinton’s willingness to completely switch positions on a major trade deal she backed as Secretary of State shows yet again how she is willing to say or do anything to get elected president.
