Florida senate candidate Patrick Murphy sat down with CBS Miami’s Jim DeFede for an interview that aired on Sunday, and it…didn’t go terribly well:
Democratic Florida Rep. Patrick Murphy, who is running for U.S. Senate to replace Marco Rubio, has had a rough couple of weeks. First, he channeled Neville Chamberlain’s infamous “peace in our time” rhetoric when he endorsed the Iran deal.
And now, in a local interview that aired on Sunday, he declared that “America has topped the world, in many ways, [in] greed and selfish behavior.”
When you’re trashing America while running for federal office, it’s probably not a good day for your campaign.
That was before the full interview was posted online, which contains some segments that Murphy was probably relieved didn’t make the TV cut, like when he initially declines to answer a question about primary opponent Alan Grayson’s temperament and then changes his mind halfway through his answer and slams Grayson’s “nature”:
And when he refuses to rate the Obama presidency, asking for 10 years to gather his thoughts:
Watching Murphy in action makes his ranking as one of the least effective members of congress fairly unsurprising.
