Democratic Campaign Chairman Admits House Democrats Can’t Win In 2016

National Journal: “The early reviews have been good for Ben Ray Lujan, but his chances of winning back the majority remain almost nonexistent.”

Wait What

In September 2015, more than a year out from the 2016 election, the Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has admitted that a Democratic House majority is all but unachievable and would take an “unprecedented wave” for Democrats to win.

DCCC Chairman Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM) said 2016 would be an uphill battle and gave an estimate of how many seats the Democrats could win – a number that leaves House Democrats with a nearly 40-seat deficit.

Several other high-ranking House Democrats and pundits have conceded that Democrats are all but relegated to a minority party, possibly until at least the next decade.
