UPDATE: CIA Confirms Clinton’s Private Server Contained “Top Secret” Material

Last night, The New York Times reported that both the CIA and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency confirmed that Hillary Clinton received two emails on her private server that were classified at the “top secret” level —one of the highest security classifications used by the U.S. government – when they were sent. This came shortly after Clinton refused again to apologize for her private email server saying that “what I did was allowed.”

Last month, the Inspector General for the Intelligence Community notified senior members of Congress today that Hillary Clinton’s private email server contained material deemed “top secret”—one of the highest security classifications used by the U.S. government. McClatchy has the story:

As pressure builds on Hillary Clinton to explain her official use of personal email while serving as secretary of state, she faced new complications Tuesday. It was disclosed her top aides are being drawn into a burgeoning federal inquiry and that two emails on her private account have been classified as “Top Secret.”

The inspector general for the Intelligence Community notified senior members of Congress that two of four classified emails discovered on the server Clinton maintained at her New York home contained material deemed to be in one of the highest security classifications – more sensitive than previously known.

This news comes on the same day that the FBI announced they were looking into the security of Clinton’s private server.

A Denver company called Platte River Networks was handling the email of the secretary of state of the U.S., but it wasn’t a government account. It was a private account and it’s raising questions about security.

The company’s website lists awards including for being among the best Colorado businesses and places to work. But Metro State University Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems Dr. Edgar Maldonado says there are questions about what security protocols were in place.

“I would say it’s not the best choice,” Maldonado said.
