Katie McGinty, national Democrats’ new favorite candidate in the Pennsylvania Senate race, donated $1,000 to Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane in 2012.

Kane has been at the center of statewide controversy since it investigators found she illegally leaked grand jury information and lied about it:

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is being charged with perjury, obstructing administration of law and other charges that allege she orchestrated a campaign to leak secret information, then lied to a grand jury about it.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman said Kane is accused of a scheme in which “we allege she orchestrated to leak confidential investigative information and secret grand jury” information, then lied to a grand jury about that.

And in 2010, Kane donated the federal limit to Sestak’s unsuccessful 2010 Senate campaign.

She’s had her hands full in recent months, so perhaps that’s why she hasn’t yet donated to Sestak or McGinty this time around.

Given today’s news, don’t be surprised if you see McGinty and Sestak jump off the Kane train and try to put distance between themselves and the disgraced AG.
