Clinton Finally Touts A State Department Accomplishment: Taking The Job

Since early 2014, Hillary Clinton has struggled to name an accomplishment from her time as Secretary of State. In an interview with Diane Sawyer, Clinton had no answer when asked about the “marquee achievement” of her tenure:

And Democrat voters have struggled to think of any accomplishment from Clinton’s time at State:

But Clinton finally has the answer. In one of her new ads, Clinton touts the main achievement of her time as Secretary of State: she took the job after losing horribly to Barack Obama in the 2008 primary. From the ad:

NARRATOR: “The secretary of state who joined the cabinet of the man who defeated her because when your president calls, you serve.”

It is truly sad that the main accomplishment that the former Secretary of State can name is that she accepted the job. This must be why the Bloomberg’s Josh Rogin wrote an article titled “Why Hillary Can’t Run on Her State Department Record.”
