Maggie Hassan: Anti-Tax Cuts, Pro-Government Shutdown

Yesterday, Governor Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) took a “strong stand against business tax cuts,” according to the headline from the Associated Press.  The result of her threat to veto the state’s budget will be a government shutdown of her own making.

But in 2013, Hassan called government shutdowns the result of “extreme ideology,” and labeled them “reckless” and “unnecessary.”

What a difference two years makes. Suddenly, Hassan finds herself possibly running for the U.S. Senate and studying the political implications of the budget, rather than governing and doing what’s best for New Hampshire.
