America Rising Submits Formal FOIA Complaint Amid Nearly 2-Year Delay

Last month, the Wall Street Journal revealed that political appointees in the federal government, like Hillary Clinton’s close confidant Cheryl Mills, helped determine what documents were released to the public via Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

America Rising submitted a FOIA request nearly two years ago to the State Department requesting various records concerning GreenTech Automotive, which was then under scrutiny for its involvement in a foreign investor visa program. To date, the State Department has not issued any responsive documents for our request.

Today, America Rising is submitting to the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform a formal notice of our experience ahead of two days of hearings into the problems with the federal government’s FOIA system under the Obama administration. Americans should and do have the right to information about their government. America Rising is simply asking the federal government to obey the law and comply with FOIA requests in a timely manner.
