Hillary Clinton’s Corporate Headquarters

Hillary Clinton just signed a lease for a campaign office in Brooklyn Heights. Hipsters shouldn’t rejoice though—there’s a Wall Street strategy behind Clinton’s office placement.

Clinton’s HQ will be based “in one of New York City’s wealthiest neighborhoods,” according to the International Business Times.

The median household income is $95,539, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Clinton’s team expressed concerns about tying her to Wall Street interests, and the location of her campaign headquarters would only help opponents make that case, CNN reported.

The actual building is known as “The Morgan-Stanley Building,” which is fitting considering Clinton has received more than $540,000 from the investment firm’s employees and PAC. And it’s located just a short ride across the bridge from Wall Street. This is all terrible news for Elizabeth Warren Democrats!

But the hits keep coming. Morgan Stanley has paid Bill and Hillary Clinton hundreds of thousands to give speeches. The corporation and its subsidiaries have donated “between $360,000 and $775,000” to the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation. And just last year, Morgan Stanley announced a $25 million commitment through the Clinton Global Initiative—adding to its initial $10 million commitment in 2012—to the organizations jobs program.

So when you really break it down, it makes sense to put Clinton’s corporate—oops! Er,—campaign headquarters in this building.
