Democrat Post-Election Chaos Centered On ObamaCare

As Democrats struggle to pick up the pieces from the 2014 midterms, some are pointing to ObamaCare as the chief reason for their drubbing. As the National Journal notes, Chuck Schumer thinks health care was the wrong area of focus:

“After passing the stimulus, Democrats should have continued to propose middle-class-oriented programs and built on the partial success of the stimulus, but unfortunately Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them,” Schumer said. “We took their mandate and put all of our focus on the wrong problem—health care reform.”

… Schumer blamed the push for the Affordable Care Act so early in Obama’s first term for the rise of the tea-party movement, which destroyed the Democratic majority in the House in 2010 and went on to—long with a number of other missteps by the federal government, including implementation of the law—oust the Democratic majority in the Senate as well in 2014.

The always reasonable and moderate Nancy Pelosi was having none of it, however. She called Schumer’s comments “beyond comprehension,” and openly questioned Democrats who wanted to distance themselves from the deeply unpopular President in states like Arkansas, Alaska, and Louisiana:

“Some senators even walked away from the president. That, I don’t get,” she said.

Who could possibly want to run away from this president? Oh, wait
