California Democrat Amanda Renteria was asked on two separate occasions during tonight’s CA-21 debate about high speed rail coming to the district. During her first question on high speed rail, Renteria was asked if they should put high speed rail on the ballot. Her response was more appropriate for someone ordering a cheeseburger than someone discussing a $68 billion transportation project: “I can go either way on it to be honest.”
Later, Renteria muses on the future of transportation and high speed rail, saying:
“And maybe the high speed rail is actually, is that airplane that goes, the Jetson, I don’t know, maybe I’m dating myself, the Jetsons, those ideas. No one ever thought you’d be carrying around an iPad. And uh, so thank you for your question.”
