Yesterday, Cheri Bustos heard firsthand how raising the minimum wage would hurt businesses in Illinois’ 17th district. Small business owner Dallas Pettingill told Bustos:
“Raise minimum wage, we raise our prices, our customers won’t come in, we close our doors. … I think it’s that simple.”
He went on to call a raised minimum wage “something really, really bad.”
But Bustos supports raising the minimum wage, and spoke about it on the House floor back in February.
Now that Bustos has heard that a higher minimum wage would shut down businesses in her district, will she change her position? Don’t count on it!
