Jeanne Shaheen Vs. Scott Brown On Boko Haram

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Hillary Clinton-led State Department refused to designate Boko Haram, the group that recently kidnapped over 250 Nigerian Schoolgirls, as a terrorist group.

In May 2012, Scott Brown introduced the Boko Haram Terrorist Designation Act Of 2012, which would have:

“[Directed] the Secretary of State to report to Congress on whether the Nigerian organization People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet’s teachings and Jihad (Boko Haram) meets the criteria for designation as a foreign terrorist organization.”

The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, which Shaheen was a member of. The bill never made it out of the Democrat controlled committee.

In January 2013, Republicans introduced the bill again, which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations that Shaheen sits on. Yet again, no action was taken.

So while Brown was pushing to use all the resources at our disposal against Boko Haram, Shaheen and Clinton were taking a pass.
