DCCC Said They Could Win Florida 13 But They Couldn’t Even Find A Democrat To Run

After Democrats lost the special election for Florida’s 13th Congressional District in March, DCCC Chairman Steve Israel was bullish on the party’s chances to win the race in November:

However, it seems Democrats are scrambling to find a candidate to run in November:

Israel tried and failed to get Alex Sink to run in November. Sink, tired of losing race after race, ultimately decided not to run last month. Regardless, Israel remained confident that “our Democratic nominee can prevail on Election Day.”

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel (N.Y.) notably lobbied for Sink to try again following her loss. Israel insisted Democrats will make a run at the newest congressman, though. ‘Pinellas residents have voted time and again for commonsense solutions instead of reckless partisanship, which is why we are confident our Democratic nominee can prevail on Election Day,’ he said.”

Things are so bad for Democrats in FL-13 that they’re being forced to back a “No Party Affiliation” candidate to take on Congressman Jolly.

Unable to find a candidate registered long enough to run as a Democrat in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced this afternoon that it is supporting Colonel Ed Jany.
