In a closed-door meeting on Friday, Secretary of State John Kerry told a room of influential world leaders that Israel could become “an apartheid state.”
Lest there be any confusion about what Kerry meant regarding Israel, the 1998 Rome Statute defines the crime of apartheid as follows:
“inhumane acts… committed in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime.”
