Senate Democrats’ Koch Problem

Group (2)

Democrats are launching an attack campaign off of Harry Reid’s over the top attacks on Republicans and the Koch brothers, which even MSNBC hosts have criticized as “beneath his office.”

Senators Mary Landrieu, Mark Begich, and Mark Pryor have all gotten in on the act already. Each of them like to attack the Koch brothers when trying to raise money for their vulnerable re-election campaigns, calling the Koch brothers everything from “reckless” to “shadowy” to “fear mongering.” This is the height of hypocrisy though, as each of these Democrats quietly took money from the Koch brothers in recent years.

  • Koch Industries has donated $25,000 to Landrieu’s leadership PAC since 2008. That same year, they gave her re-election campaign $2,500.
  • During Pryor’s tenure in the Senate, the Koch brothers have given his campaign a total of $20,000.
  • In 2010, Begich’s leadership PAC took $5,000 from Koch Industries.
  • Even the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) has taken Koch money, they have received $60,000 from Koch Industries since 2008.

While Landrieu, Begich, Pryor, and the DSCC each like to imply that “Republicans are addicted to Koch,” it seems that they all have their own “Koch” addiction to deal with.
