Catherine Cortez Masto just went full Martha Coakley

Masto

Did you happen to see Catherine Cortez Masto’s fundraising email from yesterday? In it she outlined (in a fancy graphic pictured below) the reasons why she’s running for Senate. One of those reasons is “protecting Harry Reid’s seat.”

So, according to Cortez Masto, “protecting Harry Reid’s seat” is more important than jobs for Nevadans, national security, or education. We checked a recent Gallup poll and shockingly did not find “protecting Harry Reid’s seat” anywhere on the list of issues that are important to people.

All of this reminds of us of another Senate election in which an underwhelming Attorney General suffered a humiliating defeat in her run to “protect” a longtime Senator’s seat. We’re talking of course about Martha Coakley (coincidentally a Cortez Masto donor) and her embarrassing defeat against Scott Brown in the 2010 Massachusetts Senate special election. Brown was able to turn the “protecting Ted Kennedy’s seat” attitude from Coakley and Democrats into serious political points for himself with this great exchange.

It says all you need to know about Catherine Cortez Masto’s priorities that she lists ‘protecting Harry Reid’s seat’ as more important than jobs, national security, or education. Someone should tell Cortez Masto that a U.S. Senate seat belongs to no person or party, not even her puppet master Harry Reid.”

Another Clinton Supporter Doesn’t Agree With Her Position On Trade

This Morning, during an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) an early supporter of Hillary Clinton, announced the he would support Obama’s trade deal.

Sen. Warner was evasive when Bloomberg’s John Heilemann confronted him about Clinton’s flip-flop on the issue, refusing to answer the question twice.

This is the second Clinton supporter this week to disagree with her position on trade. On Sunday, potential Clinton VP Julian Castro at The Texas Tribune Festival said that he would be supporting Obama’s trade deal.

It’s clear with so many Democrats supporting this deal (which Clinton once called “the gold standard”), Clinton’s opposition is more evidence of her playing primary politics and protecting her left flank from Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

VIDEO: In 2013 Patrick Murphy wanted to cut Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid

Remember when Patrick Murphy backed “across the board” “structural reforms” to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid that would also entail cuts to those programs? We do – and it’s all on video right herewhen Murphy sat down for an interview with CNN back on January 2, 2013.

Of course, now that Murphy’s running in a Democratic primary, he’s following Alan Grayson’s liberal lead like a lost puppy. Just last weekAlan Grayson called for an increase to Social Security benefits, despite the program’s financial difficulties. Predictably, Murphy then released a statement saying he wanted to increase benefits too and sent a laughable fundraising email criticizing Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for wanting to “reform” Social Security and Medicare.

The question Democratic primary voters have to ask is which Patrick Murphy would they get in the Senate? The 2013 Murphy that backed McConnell-style reforms to entitlements, or the 2015 Murphy that will say anything to get elected?

Legendary Watergate Reporters Aren’t Buying Clinton’s Email Story

Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward are famous for breaking the Watergate scandal back in the ’70s. Now, both reporters are joining the growing chorus of people calling the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server a big deal.

On Sunday Bernstein was on CNN, where he said of Clinton’s debate performance: “I don’t think a reset was successfully hit, we’re still back to these basic questions about her truthfulness, about her server, about the foundation, about the FBI investigation. And it’s all one story that is not going to go away.”

The Washington Post’s Bob Woodward compared Clinton’s use of private email server to Richard Nixon’s White House tapes, and said an FBI investigation is nothing to laugh about.

Nancy Pelosi Praises Texas Democrat As “Perfect”

While many Democrats are actively avoiding association with Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), one received a ringing endorsement over the weekend. Speaking at the Texas Tribune Festival this past weekend, Pelosi took some time to discuss Pete Gallego, who is running for Congress in Texas’ 23rd district. Pelosi gushed about Gallego, saying he is “kind of a perfect person to have in the Congress.”

Gallego, who served two years in Congress before losing a re-election bid in 2014, is obviously seen as a loyal ally by Pelosi. In 2013, Gallego cast his vote for Pelosi to be Speaker of the House and voted with Democrats 81% of the time during his term. Gallego may try to paint himself as a centrist on the campaign trail but in reality he’s just another rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi and her failed left-wing policies.
