In October of last year, Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster was busted for using his office for political purposes, implementing a “pay to play” policy, and being lenient on companies that donated to his campaign.
Koster, a Democrat who now wants to be governor, claimed he was going to clean up his act, but a new audit released yesterday by the state revealed Koster never implemented his gift ban policy, which was supposed to ban “donations from any company that he had targeted for investigation.”
The fallout in Missouri for breaking his promise was swift. Two papers in the state included the story on their front pages, while the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s lede reads:
The likely Democratic front-runner in next year’s race for Missouri governor is under fire once again for issues related to conflicts of interest.
