HYPOCRISY ALERT: Clinton Campaign Coordinating Directly With “Unaccountable Money” Group

Not yet a month ago, Hillary Clinton said we need a Constitutional amendment to ban “unaccountable money” in politics.

Then yesterday happened.

The Clinton campaign announced they would be working directly with a super PAC—an unprecedented move by any presidential candidate. The Wall Street Journal has more:

By not making independent expenditures, the group said there are no restrictions on its ability to coordinate with Mrs. Clinton’s campaign. The group will spend money on activities that can legally be coordinated with a campaign, such as social media, the spokeswoman said.

It is unclear how the super PAC’s interpretation of the rules will be met by the Federal Election Commission. The FEC defines super PACs as committees that can take uncapped contributions “for the purpose of financing independent expenditures and other independent political activity.”

This move comes on the heels of news that Clinton herself is personally soliciting unaccountable money to another super PAC working on her behalf. The Clinton campaign seemingly sees no issue with their candidate calling for changes to the system and then pushing the system’s limits further than any candidate in history.
