WASHINGTON – Today, as Democrats kick off the first of six debates, American Crossroads released the results of its monthly Vox Populi tracking poll, showing continued deterioration in Hillary Clinton’s image and weak performances by both Clinton and Joe Biden against a generic Republican nominee in six key battleground states.
In an online poll of registered voters in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia, Clinton trails a generic Republican nominee by 36% to 50%, while Biden gets 36% to 48% for a generic Republican.
The poll also shows continued deterioration in Clinton’s favorability and perception of trustworthiness since American Crossroads began the poll series in May 2015. The percentage of voters who say they do not trust Clinton has risen from 43% in May to 60% in October. And 58% of respondents say they would be less likely to vote for Hillary Clinton based on her falsely claiming to have turned over all work-related emails, of which at least 400 were found to have contained classified information.
“Hillary Clinton’s unraveling email story and pandering flip-flops have turned her into a caricature of a politician in most voters’ minds,” said Ian Prior, Communications Director for American Crossroads. “But if Democrats think that Joe Biden will help put an end to their long Hillary nightmare, they are in for a rude awakening.”
