American Crossroads TV Ad Slams Bill Nelson for Gaming System to Dodge Taxes

Spot, backed by $2 million, will air for one week

WASHINGTON – American Crossroads today launched a new television ad in Florida blasting Bill Nelson for taking advantage of a tax loophole to dodge paying property taxes and make big profits.

Backed by a $2 million buy, the new 30-second ad will air on local broadcast and cable stations in Florida for one week.  The spot, titled “Farmer,” can be viewed here:

“Bill Nelson’s decades as a career politician have taught him how to dodge paying hefty taxes and still make big profits for himself,”  said Nate Hodson, American Crossroads director of state and regional media relations.  “Floridians can’t afford another six years of Bill Nelson helping himself while he pushes higher taxes for everyone else.”

Bill Nelson takes advantage of a Florida tax loophole which in 2011 enabled him to dodge paying $43,000 in taxes by allowing six cows to graze on his 55 acre “farm.”  Meanwhile, in the U.S. Senate, Nelson voted twice for a massive tax hike on family farms.
