Last night, long shot 3rd Congressional District candidate Jesse Sbaih sat down with Nevada political commentator Jon Ralston. During the interview, Sbaih blindly praised Nevada’s highly unpopular senior senator, Harry Reid, and commended President Obama’s disastrous foreign policy record.
On Harry Reid:
RALSTON: “Have you talked to the party at all, Harry Reid, anybody? Because they’ve been calling a lot of Democrats, I’m not sure they had your phone number but they called a lot of Democrats. Have you talked to any party officials at all about getting into this race?” SBAIH: “I’ve talked to a lot of people. I went to DC, talked to the DCCC.” RALSTON: “That’s the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in case people don’t know.” SBAIH: “Precisely. And I’ve had the pleasure of sitting down with Senator Reid a few weeks ago. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him, he’s a great Nevadan.” RALSTON: “Did he endorse you for this seat?” SBAIH: “He has not endorsed me but it would be an honor to get his endorsement. Again, he’s a great American, he’s been great for Nevada, and it would absolutely be wonderful to get his endorsement.”
According to an August 2015 poll, Harry Reid’s favorability stands at a paltry 24 percent with 51 percent of those polled disapproving of him.
On Foreign Policy:
RALSTON: “Do you generally approve of the way that the President has conducted foreign policy since he’s been in office?” SBAIH: “You know what, I think the President has done a great job under the circumstances. He came into this – there’s a lot of problems in the world. I mean from the Middle East to the way Putin and Russia has been acting in the Ukraine. I think under the circumstances he’s done a very admirable job.”
According to RealClearPolitics, President Obama’s average approval rating on his handling of foreign policy is a whopping 39.4 percent, while over half of Americans disapprove of the job he has done.
Sbaih, who is brand new to politics, is either so naive that he thinks politically aligning himself to Harry Reid and President Obama is a strategic move, or he truly believes in their failed policies.
